My Origin Story

Like many, I've experienced burn out and work stress and typing this, I'm aware that this may surprise old colleagues who will remember me as highly motivated, cheerful and great at getting things done. But honestly, I was running on adrenaline and high cortisol a lot of the time, driven by a need to please people alongside an unhealthy dose of perfectionism.

The truth is, I was often exhausted. My evenings and weekends became my time to sleep and recover, leaving me with little energy for anything else. My work-life balance? Almost non-existent.

Thankfully this is not how the story ends... But those experiences are what motivates me to work with you; I know what it's like to feel stuck in that cycle and I also know there's a different way to live because I understand what it's like and how to find an alternative way to live.

Helping you overcome challenges and thrive.

My journey began 40 years ago in Occupational Therapy (OT). An amazing career that taught me so much including the value of holistic care and the importance of working with all aspects of our lives; the physical, psychological, social and environmental needs.

I had the privilege of supporting individuals to achieve their goals during some of the most challenging times in their lives, whether as patients in acute hospitals, mental health services, or community based settings. Working alongside so many incredible individuals; patients, clients, and colleagues, has undoubtedly shaped who I am today.

As a clinician I supported, supervised and mentored staff and trainees and realised how much I loved this aspect of my job which led me to move into senior leadership roles.

Over the last 10 years, I’ve concentrated on empowering teams, managing services, and more latterly have focused on organisational development and quality improvement.

Leadership Expertise

I hold an MSc in Leadership in Health and Social Care, am a certified NLP Master Practitioner, and an accredited coach.

Over the years, I’ve coached and mentored senior and mid-level leaders, helping them explore and address:

• Confidence and imposter syndrome

• Self-awareness and impact as a leader

• Translating leadership theory into practice

• The psychology of team dynamics

• Building psychological safety

• Shaping organisational culture

EFT: A Game Changer

As a “traditional” coach, I often noticed that even when people logically understood the issues and next steps, they still faced blocks or found themselves repeating unhelpful patterns.

This could often be linked to the impact of unresolved traumas and self-limiting beliefs.

Having experienced childhood trauma myself, I understand the long-lasting effects this can have and how the echos of those traumas can resurface in adulthood, both at work and at home. Something happens in the present which triggers an unconscious reaction that potentially has a root cause from long ago, leaving you less resourced to deal with what's in front of you.

While traditional therapy helped me, some persistent issues remained until I discovered Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). It was truly transformative, allowing me to heal at an even deeper level.

For me, EFT was the final piece of the puzzle. It inspired me to integrate EFT into my coaching practice to help others experience the same freedom and growth.

What to Expect

I take a coaching approach to help you uncover your unique path and by integrating EFT (or tapping), we are also able to release deeply rooted self-limiting beliefs and create a vision for your future.

This gentle process helps your mind and body let go of old patterns, empowering you to embrace positive beliefs that support the person you truly want to be.

Many clients find that after just a few sessions, they:

• Sleep better

• Feel more confident

• Gain clarity

• Rediscover the energy to enjoy life fully

When I’m Not Coaching

You’ll often find me spending time with Finn the Lurcher, gardening, tending to my indoor plants, or catching up with friends and family.

I’m also learning Tai Chi (a work in progress!) and enjoy creating abstract paintings

While I’m not a natural at all things physical, I am often cajoled into fitness activities stepping out of my comfort zone and having fun in the process

I've had counselling several times but this was my first experience of coaching. I felt brave and nervous when I first reached out to Helen. I've achieved my goals and more. Helen was with me all the way on my personal journey of self discovery and change.

Coaching with Helen has been a life changing experience for me. I think of a chrysalis, a pupa encased, changing, emerging as a beautiful butterfly to fly freely in the universe. I am that butterfly free to fly.

She is professional and personable, full of warmth, words and ideas.

In my sessions I dug deep; I cried; I remembered: I talked and listened; I tapped and relaxed; we laughed; we shared; we went on my journey together, for me.

I will recommend Helen to anyone ready to accept that coaching could be good for them too. THANK YOU Helen.

I was lucky enough to try a session of EFT with Helen recently. I have to admit, I was both a bit dubious and anxious about the process beforehand...but I was proved very, very wrong.

Helen has such a lovely, calm, empathic approach to her sessions and immediately put me at ease.

Helen gives brilliant, real life examples which bring the theory to life and make practical application easy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my coaching sessions with Helen, she was always responsive to my questions and would be flexible and adapt the session depending on my concern or query raised in the session.

I have changed since I started my coaching sessions with Helen and am so grateful to her, for all her skills and for being the wonderful coach she is.
